The Ritchie Community League remains committed to keeping residents informed about ongoing projects in our neighborhood. As more information becomes available about work in the Mill Creek Ravine and its impact on traffic and accessibility along 76 Avenue, we will continue to share updates.
Project Overview: The City of Edmonton is conducting erosion repair and slope improvement work in Mill Creek Ravine near the pedestrian bridge.
Key Impacts:
Trail Closures: The lower Mill Creek Ravine Trail is closed for the duration of the project. An alternate route is available via the upper trail near 76 Avenue, which connects with the lower trail.
Road Closures: Westbound 76 Avenue is closed to traffic starting January 9, 2025, and will remain closed until late February 2025. Pedestrian access along 76 Avenue is being maintained during this time.
Timeline:
Start Date: Minimal shrub and tree clearing began the week of December 9, 2024.
Construction Start: Scheduled for the week of January 6, 2025, weather permitting.
Completion Timeline: Construction is expected to conclude by the end of February 2025, with landscaping completed in summer 2025.
Pedestrian and Cyclist Access: Alternate routes with signage are in place to ensure continued access for pedestrians and cyclists during trail and road closures.
