Ritchie rink closed this season

This is not a decision Ritchie Community League takes lightly. We love our outdoor rink as much as anyone.

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a major impact on the operations of many non-profit organizations in Edmonton, including RCL.

Our outdoor rink is a source of pride for both RCL and the broader community and has been managed by the same volunteer for nearly 30 years.

However, public health restrictions imposed on outdoor rinks in Edmonton combined with RCL’s limited resources to ensure that those who are using the rink are doing so in a safe manner means that we are unable to flood, maintain and operate an outdoor rink this year.

This is not a decision that RCL takes lightly but is a reflection of the circumstances facing many non-profit organizations in Edmonton that rely almost exclusively on volunteer support and face the rapid spread of COVID-19 in the community.

Be safe, and please check alternative programming options we’re providing, including our Move for Mental Health Challenge (which begins Jan. 1).

Community league members are welcome to skate at other league rinks. Skating is also available at Victoria Park Oval, and will be available soon at Hawrelak Park and Rundle Park.

All alternate locations have capacity limits. If it is busy, try again another time.
