Youth Empowerment Workshop: Preparing Youth for Employment

This youth empowerment workshop focuses on preparing youth for the job market and will cover areas including: resume writing, positive traits, power words, best practices, and drafting a sample resume.

The session will also include introduction to job searches, writing a cover letter, interview preparation, and dressing for the job. Ideal for youth 18 to 25 years old.

IN THIS WORKSHOP YOU WILL:

  • develop a sample resume

  • learn proper dressing for the job

  • develop a sample cover letter

  • establish job search optimization

  • be prepared for a job interview

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR

Okama Brook is a volunteer with the Ritchie Community League. She is a capability building, organizational development, community engagement and social mobilization expert. She is the founder of the ACHA, a not for profit organization that supports youth, women and indigenous people's initiatives. In her previous job at Goodwill Industries of Alberta as a Child & Youth Resource Specialist, she developed resources that helped connect youth and families to sustainable livelihoods. She is an ethnocultural performing artist, mother of three thriving teenagers, and serves on several community boards.
