Ice, Ice, Baby!!! ⛸️⛸️⛸️

The rink is generally open 8 am to 10 pm. If the rink is closed it could be for one of the following reasons: temperatures either too warm (around the freezing mark) or too cold (below -20°C), snow, maintenance.

The RCL ice rink and skate shack are volunteer operated, so we thank you in advance for your patience.

ACE Neighbour Contest

ACE Neighbour Contest
Congratulations to this month's winner and Ritchie's very own Klondike Kitty - Debra Cook!  Dianne Hall shared this great  story about her great neighbour:

"My neighbor Deb deserves a shout out. She is senior, retired teacher and has volunteered for over 30 years as Klondike Kitty singing to veterans. She has faced numerous health issues this year, but still heads out to spend time to sing and entertain at Vets homes, retirement homes, and the train that runs in the summer for seniors. She shops local, shovels walks and is always there for all the neighbours."

Hearing this story brought back a memory from 30 years ago when Deb came to my grade five class. So congrats Deb - Accent Infills  has a cheque for $100 to reward you for all you've done.

As for Dianne, Transcend is providing her with a $50 voucher for coffee and other treats to stay warm this winter!

We've got lots of great prizes from local business and cash-ola from Accent Infills so remember, to nominate your pal next door. All you have to do is email ritchieconnector@gmail.com and tell us why your neighbour is ACE!

RCL Executive Spotlight: Chantal Lavoie

Chantal Lavoie is a creative, organized and energetic community member with lots of great ideas. In fact, she is the driving force behind many of the great programs that make their way to Ritchie Hall.  Thanks Chantal for bringing us together and helping Ritchie to learn and explore new things!

1.What is your Role on the Board?
I am the Programs Director.

2. Why did you volunteer?
I love my community and I want to help make it better.

3. How long have you lived in Ritchie?
My family and I moved to Ritchie about three years ago.

4. Why did you pick this neighbourhood?
It is close to many great amenities you can walk to, close to our children’s school and our work. We love the 5-10 minute commute.

5. What is the best thing you’ve discovered in Ritchie?
The best thing recently is the opening of the Ritchie Market and Farrow Restaurant.

6. What is your wish for the next 5 years in Ritchie?
That we all pool our efforts together to help raise money for a new Ritchie Hall.

7. What is your favourite Ritchie Event/program and why?
This is difficult to answer because there are so many great events. It’s a toss up between the Chili Cook Off and Octoberfest.

8. What do you do when you aren’t volunteering?
I work full time as a teacher and I am busy traveling, camping, hiking, biking, skiing or swimming with my husband and three kids.

9. What book did you read last?
The Japanese Lover By Isabel Allende.

10. What’s the one thing you can’t live without?
My morning latte that I brew at home with Transcend Espresso beans. Delicious!
