JOB DESCRIPTION
The COMMUNITY EVENTS & PROGRAMS COORDINATOR agrees to lead, execute and support several community events and programs for the Ritchie Community League (RCL) including participating as a key contributor to the Centennial celebration, marketing initiatives and summer programming.
RCL is placing a high priority on (re)building community connection during the COVID-19 pandemic and is planning for several summer events and programs. RCL will endeavour to create opportunities for brand new, accessible, all-age events and full-time summer programs (e.g., summer sports).
The coordinator will recruit and work with RCL volunteers. The objective is to turn this position into a sustainable part-time permanent position for the League.
The following is subject to change depending on the priorities of the Board.
Events Coordination
Identify the community’s requirements and expectations for each event.
Liaise with stakeholders during the event planning process to ensure everything is in order.
Create related marketing plan and execute
Manage all event set-up, tear down, and follow-up processes.
Maintain event budgets.
Obtain required licensing, book and schedule participants (music, speakers, etc.), order supplies
Conduct final inspections on the day of the event to ensure everything adheres to the client’s standards.
Assess an event’s overall success and submit findings.
Program Coordination
Identify and develop the community’s requirements and expectations for each program/camp.
Plan, coordinate, execute and evaluate all aspects of community programs
Ensure program and participant safety procedures are being followed
Collaborate with organizations, agencies and individuals on specific programs or events
Support programs that deal with games, sports, crafts, music, drama and special events.
REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Reporting to the Director of Programs & Directtor of Events with mentorship from the Hall Manager
Provide a bi-monthly report prior to the RCL Board meeting, or as required.
WAGES
RCL agrees to pay the coordinator, for his/her work, wages of $20 per hour at 40 hours per week for the duration of the contract.
EDUCATION
Degree or diploma, or equivalent or higher, in recreational, education, leisure studies or a related discipline with training in program development.
EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
Minimum 1 year of experience in program delivery, with a focus on children and/or youth programs
Experience in leading projects with multiple stakeholders is required
Experience with an Edmonton Community League is desirable
Experience running events
Be willing to work variable hours with the occasional evening of weekend committee meeting
