Challenge gains 10,000 km despite the deep freeze
Move for Mental Health is a simple challenge: Get moving!
League across the city are competing for the title of most active league and collectively chasing a goal of 250,000 km by March 31. Last week, while cars wouldn’t start and furnaces ran continuously, they kept at it: running, skiing, walking, cycling…anything to move to improve their mental health.
Their collective efforts added up to 10,006 km! That’s amazing considering the week before (when temperatures were a bit more tolerable) the collective gain was a mere 6,560 km
So how close are we to the final goal? The collective total sits at 65,509 km as of Feb. 16. We have a ways to go!
In the league-on-league standings, Hazeldean and Ritchie keep swapping spots for first place. This week it’s Hazeldean with 15,021 km to Ritchie’s 13,452 km on Tuesday morning (Feb. 16). (C’mon Ritchie…shake a leg!)
After the week we just had, you may need more than moving to push back the mid-winter blues. We’ve talked to a number of experts. Let them inspire you to get moving!
An extra challenge…just for Ritchie members
If you have the financial means to make a donation, consider supporting the mental health of our neighbours. We’ve set up a donation page on CanadaHelps for these three Edmonton charities:
